1. Summary

Cohesity is a relatively new company in the data protection arena and has been able to attract the attention of the enterprise market because of its vision and innovative approach. In fact, Cohesity was one of the first players to recognize data protection as essential to a complete data management solution, and its products are designed around an encompassing model that includes consolidation, protection, and management. To achieve this goal, the company developed a scale-out file system to store data on the back end with an extremely easy-to-use UI and a series of tools to protect, consolidate, analyze, secure, and manage data from an impressive number of sources.

The core solution, DataProtect, was originally available as a scale-out appliance or as software to be installed in standard servers or cloud virtual appliances. It is now available as a SaaS solution as well, and this enables the company to expand its reach to smaller and mid-size organizations, which can now deploy the product with minimal investment. Moreover, thanks to Cohesity’s Helios SaaS data management platform, large IT organizations can now take advantage of the hybrid solution to cover even more scenarios and execute on their hybrid and multi-cloud cloud strategies.

Cohesity’s solutions are available worldwide through certified channel partners. The company has always provided a full set of APIs to simplify integration with third parties and give advanced users the tools to customize and automate a number of processes. This enabled the company to build a proper marketplace that includes sophisticated solutions aimed at improving data management, security scanning, reporting, and analytics. These solutions are fully integrated with the product’s UI for consistent and seamless installation, configuration, and use.

Users in the field report very high satisfaction rates for the solution, mentioning a good return on investment (ROI) and total cost of ownership (TCO), thanks to a general simplification of data protection and data management processes. Most of these users start with a single data protection use case and expand the system later to take full advantage of its capabilities, in particular its flexibility and scalability. Cohesity is actively certified and supported by primary hardware and storage vendors as well as several ISVs.
