1. Summary
Communication service providers (CSPs) are finally joining the cloud computing party. But as it turns out, building cloud infrastructure at scale is not as easy as it looks. CSPs face a number of challenges in this space: shrinking fixed-line revenues, competition from over-the-top (OTT) Internet players and erosion of margins. Couple these problems with the competition they face from pure-play cloud computing providers such as AWS and the picture for carriers looks pretty bleak.
What are the trends and technologies needed for CSPs to gain ground in cloud computing? This report looks at the technologies shaping the cloud Infrastructure-as-a-Service market, the impact these factors are having on CSPs, and what CSPs can do to catch up with the cloud revolution.
